Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
3 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 oz cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup whole milk or non-dairy alternative
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper
In a bowl, whisk melted butter, 1 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Stir in all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until smooth
Pour brownie batter into prepared pan and spread evenly
Bake for 15-18 minutes, just until center is slightly set
Beat cream cheese until soft
Add remaining 3/4 cup sugar, remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla, and milk; mix until smooth
Spread cheesecake layer over warm brownie base
Bake 12-15 minutes or until topping is lightly golden
Cool completely, then chill for 2 hours before cutting
Notes
Room temperature eggs blend more smoothly
Optional marbled pattern: use a toothpick to swirl toppings
