Description
This maple sweet potato casserole combines the natural sweetness of roasted sweet potatoes with warm cinnamon, rich maple syrup, and a velvety texture. A comforting, easy-to-make side dish perfect for holidays or family meals, featuring a customizable topping for added texture.
Ingredients
3 pounds sweet potatoes, about 3–4 medium-sized
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus more for dusting
1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Peel and dice sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes
Place on a baking sheet and roast for 25 minutes
Transfer to a large bowl and mash until smooth
Stir in melted butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined
Spread mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish
Dust a light layer of cinnamon on top (optional)
Bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden
Optional: Sprinkle pecans, marshmallows, or streusel during the last 5 minutes of baking for texture
Notes
For streusel topping: Mix 1/4 cup flour, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp melted butter, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon until crumbly.
Marshmallows need close supervision to prevent burning.
Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
