Description
A classic American side dish where sweet, tender corn is elevated with rich butter, garlic, and herbs. Perfect for summer meals, this easy-to-prepare recipe brings a burst of flavor and color to any table.
Ingredients
4–6 fresh ears of corn, husks removed and kernels intact
1/2 cup (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened
1–2 cloves garlic, minced finely or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons fresh herbs (chives, parsley, or dill), optional
Salt, to taste (preferably sea salt or kosher salt)
Instructions
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil and add 1-2 tablespoons salt for flavor.
Trim corn husks (if not already removed) and place ears into boiling water.
Cook for 7-8 minutes until kernels are tender but still slightly firm.
Meanwhile, mix softened butter with garlic and herbs (if using) in a small bowl.
Remove corn from water and let cool slightly. Using a basting brush or hands, generously coat each ear with the butter mixture.
Serve immediately for warm corn, or chill briefly for a cool side.
Notes
For grilled corn: Preheat a grill to medium-high heat. Brush corn with butter mixture before grilling for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally.
Choose corn with bright green husks and plump, milky kernels. Store unshucked corn in a brown paper bag in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Adjust salt to taste depending on the type of butter used.
