Description
A luscious, easy-to-make dessert featuring tender peaches baked in a golden, spiced syrup with a biscuit-like topping. Perfect for summer, family dinners, or any occasion needing a warm, comforting treat.
Ingredients
6–8 cups fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced (about 8–10 medium peaches)
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
½ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8- or 9-inch cast-iron skillet or baking dish.
In a bowl, mix flour, ½ cup sugar, melted butter, milk, vanilla, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until just combined.
Arrange peach slices in a single layer in the dish. Spread the batter over the peaches, ensuring full coverage.
Sprinkle remaining ½ cup sugar over the batter.
Bake for 40–45 minutes until the topping is golden and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use ripe but firm peaches for the best balance of flavor and texture.
For a spiced twist, add ½ teaspoon allspice or ¼ teaspoon ground ginger with the cinnamon.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
